How The Closure Of Our Car Company Went Bad

What Will Happen To Holden Sellers

The biggest issue for Holden’s departure is recompense of the Holden's dealers, quite a few of who have paid significant amounts to conduct car yard enhancements in recent years amid falling sales.
Without going into the protracted details of the months of fighting the two sides have had, GM made an offer of remuneration for one thousand and five hundred dollars for every car, and Holden's dealers requested six thousand and ten dollars. With the dealers many public and private requests for mediation as well as for more remuneration General Motors never moved on their initial amount.

And this meant over one-hundred and twenty of the remaining one hundred and eighty-four dealers were forced to take the small amount earlier this week due to GM setting a June 30 deadline.
Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) Chief Executive Officer James Voortman was scathing with an analysis of the negotiations between both stakeholders were conducted, placing the blame at GM’s feet.
Yet, this does not indicate that the argument has finished. AHDC (Australian Holden Dealer Council) reports that the remaining sixty Holden dealers will chase GM for a larger deal.
Both General Motors (GM) & Holden haven't released any comment about the settlement.

Which Company Will Service Your Commodore?

With quite a few dealers removed the Holden Lion signage & changed to independant branding, it has created a lot of hesitation and lack of clarity for existing of Holden.
GM did indicate back in February it were looking to to have five-year contracts from dealers with possibility to increase to a the period of a decade, to give current Holden owners have security. While exact details of these deals have been forgotten with the arguing over compensation, it’s assumed that the other dealers that came to terms with GM have been able to have servicing agreements as a part of agreements.

What's Happening With GM Speciality Vehicles

High performance company, Holden Special Vehicles is set to rebadge to GM Specialty Vehicles.
Their February announcement of the shutdown of Holden operations, General Motors revealed their desire to continue selling selected cars under the GM Specialty Vehicles banner. And while they has been silent on the opeartions after their announcement, it’s mostly thought GM will partner with HSV, to increase HSV's offerings of right-hand steer changed General Motor's cars.
Yet, there is a point of contention for this plan and the AHDC has released a report recently in June that examines the GM Speciality Vehicle's validity.
Mr Voortman said he was very concerned about the possibility GM could close Holden’s network and re-enter in the Australian market under a different company.
